Stella McCartney

Portrait of Stella McCartney

Abundant freedom

To make a first name for herself, Stella McCartney has had to stake her ground right from her years as a student at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, the prestigious London school that also opened its doors to Alexander McQueen.

In 1997, Stella joined Chloé. Then in 2001, she launched her own label in partnership with the Gucci Group. From the very outset, she stated her intention not to work with leather or fur. A vegetarian and animal rights protector, Stella defends her convictions to her fingertips…

Her ultra-feminine label has a touch of humour that plays on the opposition between savage and city dweller. The young designer cultivates a certain idea of comfort, as pleasing as the appearance of her designs: feel good, look beautiful!

Stella embodies abundant freedom. Her first name is becoming established.

Her Adidas by Stella McCartney line, which combines sport and femininity, has been a great success. In autumn 2005, she created a unique women’s ready-to-wear collection for H&M, which was sold in the company’s 400 points of sale.
These two operations enjoyed exceptional media coverage and unprecedented commercial success.
