A former student at Ecole Polytechnique, engineer of the Manufactures de l’Etat, a graduate of IEP Paris, René de La Serre began his career in 1963 as an Engineer-adviser then Deputy Director of the European Union Bank.
In 1973, he joined the Crédit Commercial de France where he was appointed Vice-Chairman and CEO of the group’s financial activities (1993 -1999) and then Adviser to the Chairman (1999 - 2000).
At the same time, he was President of the Conseil des Bourses de Valeurs (1994 - 1996) and then President of the Conseil des Marché Financiers (1996 - 1998).
