PPR and environment in figures

In brief

ligneppr

The PPR Group, whose businesses do not present any major “industrial” risks for the environment, strives nevertheless to reduce its environmental impact wherever its activities may have a real impact on ecosystems, energy and raw material consumption or on climate change, particularly with CO2 emissions.

Management of the environment

The environmental performances of the PPR Group cannot develop in the long term without the creation of a reliable organisation that can communicate the Group’s commitments to the entities and collect information from such entities in order to monitor how commitments are taken into account and ensure their management.

Impact of the Group on climate change

Energy consumption and transport are fundamental indicators at PPR. In fact, energy consumption and logistics represent a significant charge for the stores, in addition to major environmental indicators. In addition, these indicators enable an evaluation of the Group’s impact on climate change via the calculation of its direct greenhouse gas emissions relating to natural gas and transport fuel consumption.

Optimisation of raw materials

PPR is a major paper consumer worldwide, notably for the printing of catalogues. Accordingly, the Group pays particular attention to the origin of the wood used to produce them. It also focuses its concern on other raw materials used in all its production.

Waste management

PPR Group branches mainly produce packaging waste, with a very small quantity of hazardous waste. To optimise management of this waste, the Group has introduced a reporting system monitoring the different components of waste produced.
Since 2005, particular attention has been focused on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
