Reshaping reporting methods

The transport flows of each Group company are variable and complex. Accordingly, the reporting scope for the movements involved was redefined in 2005 to include only transport carried out under PPR control, i.e. paid-for by the Group (trips between production sites, supplying of stores, delivery to customers).
These flows were also broken down into two quite separate categories in order to facilitate and clarify reporting for the activity:

- shipment of goods between company sites, termed “B to B”

- shipment to the end-consumer, termed “B to C”.

Optimising transport logistics

The  acknowledgement of the environmental impact of transport has been expressed in the field through the introduction of a variety of actions, differing according to the Group company and the nature of the goods being shipped:

- using alternatives to road transport: rail freight or river navigation,

- pooling deliveries by geographical area so as to reduce the mileage travelled,

- grouping logistics platform,

- using messenger services running electrical vehicles, for  Fnac’s Paris stores.

Road transport and CO2 emissions

In 2006, transport-related CO2 emissions, calculated on the basis of the reporting scope considered, totalled 330,731 tonnes for the Group.
