Putting a stop to pre-conceived ideas
If one of the declared aims is to make the company more attractive in terms of recruitment, another important aspect of the website is that it helps put a stop to certain pre-conceived ideas on distribution in general and discount in particular. Altogether, 300 jobs were created in 2006, 1,500 people were hired and the turnover was only 11%. 93% of employees work full-time and 9% have a fixed-term contract. The average monthly salary over 12 months is €1,946 for non-supervisory staff and 70% of supervisory positions are filled through internal promotion. These are the realities and the website does well to remind us.
 
Attracting the best applicants
Another objective is to illustrate the variety of careers that exist at Conforama. Indeed, the only two jobs known are those of store manager and department manager. Conforama would also like to highlight the professionalisation of careers within the company – in fact the number of training hours has increased by 60% since 2004. Through business expertise, high-quality management and apprenticeships, the company is giving itself the means to convince and attract the best applicants. As Caroline Le Bozec, Conforama’s Director of Human Resources, explains: “Thanks to Canalconfo.com, we demonstrate our attractiveness to a large number of people and thus try to attract applicants wishing to develop their professionalism in a demanding but friendly environment”.
