Global Management Challenge

As part of its Schools liaison policy, PPR decided to sponsor the business simulation game "The Global Management Challenge". Objective: elect the management team of the year. Created in 1979, the "Global Management Challenge" is a unique event worldwide which in 2006, brought together 50,000 competitors in sixteen countries – managers and students from university and higher education. PPR is planning to be present in 2007. The Group is supporting 20 French teams this year, each one wearing the colours of the company which they represent in competition.
4 steps to victory
The rules of the game? The tournament happens in four phases: the elimination heats, the semi-finals, the national final at Paris and the international final which is held this year in Macao. At the beginning of each phase, the teams are given the task of managing a company which design, makes and sells its products in the world market and by Internet. After making a diagnosis of their virtual business the five team members draw up a strategy with figures and develop their working skills in the key sectors of the business: research and development, production, personnel management, marketing, putting on sale. Once a week, the teams send their instructions by email to the organisers who the same day send them back a report listing the consequences and interactions of their decisions with those of the competition. At the end of each phase, the best teams are qualified, the ranking being based on highest stock market value.
Beyond games…
Throughout the competition, the PPR Group and its companies organise various activities: encounter days with operatives, specific training workshops, workplace visits… A coaching system is also up and running.
Global Management Challenge goes off the beaten track and enables shared experiences and fruitful relationships, fruitful both for the companies and for the student teams.
In the end, the Global Management Challenge is a great shared adventure which we haven't heard the last of, since PPR is going international with it from September 2007, in partnership with 7 countries, namely France, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Greece !
