Supporting integration through economic activity

In accordance with its values and entrepreneurial spirit, the Group has increased and strengthened its support for the sheltered sector and integration through economic activity.
Supporting integration through economic activity
Launched by SolidarCité several years ago, the PPR approach supporting integration through economic activity was strengthened in 2007. The SolidarCité objective is to facilitate the social and vocational integration of the disadvantaged and to find employment for the long-term unemployed, young people under the age of 26 that are jobless and lack training, the homeless or anyone without job security, by means of personalised guidance.
The aim is to bolster the Group’s partnerships with this type of integration structure throughout France.
Hence, in partnership with Buyco, the Group’s indirect purchasing entity, two temporary job placement agencies – Janus, which has worked with Redcats Group since 2003 and Id’ées/Adecco Insertion – have been recommended for all Group branches in France.
This agreement, allowing for recourse to temporary employment for integration purposes using the coefficient for standard temporary employment, resulted in a 40% increase in the number of hours in 2007.
Promoting the sheltered sector
In addition, the Group developed its relations with the sheltered sector. This includes the French employment assistance agencies known as Établissements et Services d’Aide par le Travail (ESAT), and adapted companies, entities which allow more or less severely disabled persons to conduct a professional activity in adapted working conditions.
Being an integral part of market economy, these structures offer high quality services in specific business segments.
In 2007, the Group’s general consumer brands in France relied on this type of company for laundry, mailing, printing, routing or various other services. Fnac has implemented the programme throughout France, even though some sites do not have access to the help agencies.
