2008: a year of celebrations for the House of Boucheron
Boucheron, the jeweller of sensual desire, celebrated in 2008 its 150th anniversary. Not only renowned artists from different areas paid tribute to the House with unique collections, but also the brand promoted various initiatives dedicated to its connoisseurs around the world.
The celebration-year has started with a unique gala in Paris on January 21, 2008. To the delight of its guests, the jeweller of sensual desire invited them to the preview of its commemorative 150th anniversary High Jewellery collection “Enchanting Boucheron”.
These one-of-a-kind masterpieces each represent one of the 7 fundamental characteristics of the House (Audacious, Voluptuous, Magic, Curious, Gourmand, Dangerous and Mysterious) and are a tangible and sumptuous expression of the level of excellence Boucheron has come to represent over the past 150 years.
This was followed by an intimate dinner at the Petit Palais, the exquisite dishes prepared by world renowned chef Yannick Alleno. Some 150 guests, especially invited by M. François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of PPR, M. Robert Polet, President & CEO of Gucci Group and M. Jean-Christophe Bédos, President & CEO of Boucheron, included Julianne Moore, Anna Wintour, Suzy Menkes, Carine Roitfeld, Naomi Campbell, Diane Kruger, Joshua Jackson, L’Wren Scott, Michelle Yeoh, Jean Todt, Danielle Steel, etc.
From Paris, the 150th anniversary High Jewelry collection of Boucheron toured the world, with stops including Moscow, Tokyo, Geneva, The French Riviera, San Francisco, London, Hong Kong and Dubai. Special attention was dedicated to the US: a groundbreaking plan to enter the market included an itinerant Boucheron boutique accompanying Spiegelworld Désir show across the US.
Also, the e-commerce site, the first offering to customers made to measure jewellery, was extended to US in September, following the European launch of the previous year.
The heritage of Boucheron meets innovation
Tailored partnerships were inaugurated with the exclusive and renowned luxury telephone company Vertu to create seven, one of a kind, Signature cell phone inspired by the seven muses of the 150th anniversary collection (Audacious, Voluptuous, Magic, Curious, Gourmand, Dangerous and Mysterious).
Also, Richard Mille and Boucheron have joined forces to create a unique timepiece, the RM 018 tourbillon wristwatch, reinterpreting the famous Tourbillon watch in an extraordinary union between jewelry and watch-making.
The Snake
La Maison du Chocolat, the famous chocolate maker established in Paris in 1955, created a Snake necklace in chocolate deliciously enhanced with a heart-shaped fancy browny yellow diamond specially cut to weigh 20.08.
Also, Harumi Klossowska, daughter of the painter Balthus, created a unique necklace and bracelet dedicated to this animal, emblem of the House.
Mistery
For the final collaboration of the year, the designer Shaun Leane was hand picked to create a unique necklace for Boucheron inspired by a fundamental theme of the House: Mystery.
Thanks to Boucheron’s yearlong celebration filled with new creations, inventive collaborations and unique and unforgettable events, 2008 was certainly the year of Boucheron.
